In Episode 5 we will hear from Subject 2B who was arrested on September 6th, 2020 in South Central, while attempting to attend a protest demanding justice for Dijon Kizzee. We also will take a look back at the case of Mitrice Richardson, 24 who went missing in 2009. There are some disturbing similarities to the testimony of our SA victim and the Richardson case.
August 31, 2020 at around 3:15pm Dijon Kizzee, 29, was stopped by sheriff's deputies for an alleged bicycle violation.
Dijon began slowly running with a pile of clothes and dropped the contents allegedly including a firearm according to LASD.
Two sheriff's deputies shot Kizzee while he was trying to escape the scene. He was shot over 15 times, and was cuffed after his death. According to an autopsy report Kizzee had four “rapidly life threatening wounds” to the lungs, heart, liver and left kidney.
One shot was to the upper center of his back and 3 were to his chest, according to the report. Kizzee also had abrasions to his shoulders, face, and other areas. LASD claims Kizzee “made a motion toward the firearm.”
Dijon’s death sparked outrage in the Los Angeles community. Dijon’s family stood alongside protestors at the scene of the shooting, the 1200 block of West 109 Place. Later demonstrators marched to the Imperial Sheriff's station, demanding justice for Dijon Kizzee and vocalizing their outrage at another unarmed black man killed by law enforcement. Dijon’s body was in the street for hours with community members, family, press and legal observers on the scene.
Los Angeles protestors demonstrated at the Imperial Sheriff's station from September 5th-12th. Coined “Hell Week,” by participants due to the brutality displayed by LASD.
At least 35 arrests were made during the demonstrations. Night after night sheriff's deputies fired Flash bangs, pepper balls, stinger grenades, gas, and other less lethal projectiles at protesters and into the surrounding neighborhoods. There were many targeted arrests of organizers and medics, unprovoked assaults on protesters, and violence toward members of the press.
Mitrice Richardson
On September 17, 2009 Mitrice Richardson, 24 went missing after being released from the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station at 12:30 a.m. Mitrice was taken into custody by LASD for failing to pay her bill of $89 at the upscale ocean side restaurant Geoffrey`s in Malibu, CA . Day’s leading up to her arrest Mitrice had been acting out of character. The valet, staff and patrons at Geoffrey`s all noticed her behavior was odd. Mitrice made remarks she was, “from mars” and was there to, "avenge the death of Michael Jackson.”
Mitrice's family tried to help her every step of the way, Mitrice called her great grandmother from Geoffrey`s. Her great grandmother offered to pay her bill, but the restaurant wouldn't take a payment over the phone without a faxed signature.
The staff called 911 after Mitrice was unable to pay her bill sufficiently and they were concerned for her well being. When the sheriffs arrived they gave Mitrice a sobriety test, which she passed.
They impounded her car, and arrested her on a citizen's arrest for defrauding an innkeeper and a small amount of marijuana they found in her car during a search for her wallet. (1) Defrauding an innkeeper 537(a) PC and (2) Possession of marijuana 11357(b) HS. and (2) Possession of marijuana 11357(b) HS.)
But in a later search by LAPD the wallet was located. Mitrice had over 2,000 dollars in her accounts. Mitrice’s great grandmother contacted Mitrice's mother and filled her in on the situation. Mitrice’s mother calls the lost hills station looking for her daughter. They assure her Mitrice will be released in the morning.
At 5:30 a.m. Latice calls the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station. The officers inform Latice that her daughter had been released at 12:30 a.m. Officers informed her they had no reason to keep her daughter, they said she could stay at the station or in the lobby, which Mitrice allegedly declined.
Mitrice was released without her phone or car which was at the impound lot near Geoffrey`s. No officers offered her a ride to her car. Latice called the sheriff's station again, shortly after there was no word from Mitrice, to make a missing persons report. LASD told her to wait 24 hours.
Around 6:30 a.m. a former KTLA reporter Bill Smith, makes a report of a strange woman with a similar description of Mitrice in his backyard. 12 hours after the report comes in from Bill Smith, LASD informs Latice of the possible sighting, while Latice is at the sheriff's station making a missing persons report for her daughter. Furious, Latice goes to the location of the report and begins to search for Mitrice.
The case gets transferred to LAPD after the missing person's report is filed. 2 days after the call is made to LASD of the possible sighting of Mirtice, LAPD searches then begins to search the area. Dogs picked up the scent of Mitrice in Bill Smith's back yard, they follow the scent to the neighbors house and then it just trailed off.
LAPD then searched her car at the impound lot. Inside her car they located her wallet, phone and journals which were filled with scrolls of nonsensical writing. Her social media had posts that were concerning and signaled a mental health crisis. Her family has also had several bizarre interactions with her in the days leading up to her disappearance.
Latices asked LASD for footage of her daughter in custody at the Lost Hills station. LASD claimed at that time there was no footage, that the cameras were only for surveillance. Mitrice's family hired a lawyer and held a press conference calling for accountability and transparency from the sheriff's station. Soon after the sheriffs released a report to the family saying they had no reason to believe Mitrice had any cognitive issues and that she was sober when she was released.
From then on the relationship between LASD and the Richardson family grows is tense. Latice meets with a detective who informs her they have footage of Mirtice the nig ht of her arrest. The sheriffs claim they thought Latice wanted footage from outside the station, not inside the cell. The footage was only shown to her family, they claim the footage was highly edited and Mitrice looks distressed while in the cell. When Mitrice is released, another officer is seen leaving at the same time. LASD refused to reveal who this officers was seen leaving after Mirtice.
Jan 9th, 2010 another search by LAPD is executed in the area without any results again.
June 26th, 2010 Latice announced she is filing 6 different claims against LASD, two of which were negligence, and wrongful death. During this time there are some possible sighting of Mitrice in las Vegas.
August 9th, 2010 around, 1pm Malibu state rangers were hiking down Dark Canyon. There had been an illegal marijuana grow in that area. While they were investigating they found a human skull and the mummified naked remains of a woman, along with clothing matching the description of what Mitrice was wearing the night she went missing. It took 4 days to confirm that this was indeed Mitrice. She was found only 2 miles from where she was last seen.
The ranger call the sheriffs to inform them of the remains. LASD quickly arrive on the scene. Sheriffs broke protocol by waiting to inform the coroner's officer of the discovery. LASD against protocol again air lifted the remains out of Dark Canyon, without the coroner's permission and disrupted the crime scene. With so much mishandling of the remains, the coroner's never being on the scene and the sheriff's lack of crime scene investigation, the cause of death was undetermined by the coroner's. On top of everything, Mitrice's clothing still has never tested for forensics. Later Mitrice's family when visiting the crime scene, found one of Mitrice's fingers that had not been collected by the sheriffs department.

When the sheriffs make threats about discharging arrested persons without help in the middle of the night, these are not empty threats. They have a history of endangering people within their custody. Mitrice’s death is still undetermined. If you know anything about matrices death, please visit http://www.bringmitricehome.org and update the family with any information you may have.
